Zergege:
Instead of thinking about these questions...
Shouldn't Nash just concentrate on trying to get his team to the finals?
Improving other areas of his game...trying to justify his MVP award(s)
i hope he does, he is getting older, this year is maybe his last chance to prove he is the "REAL" mvp
Zergege:
Which is precisely what he's doing, every season...
I know the Suns and Nash himself still have a lot of prove...
i.e. trying to go to the finals to silence the doubter, basher, and haters
i hope his ambition is more than that, isiah had to go through MJ's bulls, Magic's lakers, and Bird's celtics to earn his two rings, compared with historical greats steve nash has the luxury of playing easier teams, like i said, this year is probably his best and last chance to win the ring ....
Zergege:
People always love to refer to history, Nash right now is making history...
what is so bad with refering to history??? it is through the reference of history that we can find a way and maybe the only way to examine the level of today's players... you can say that steve nash is unlucky to come after magic, isiah, and stockton, because older fans have witnessed how better these old-school players are ... do you really believe steve nash becomes the player he is today without even needing to watch how magic/isiah/stockton played PG on tapes??? and now the student has "earned" two mvps while the teachers(isiah&stockton) don't eve have one????
Zergege:
So what if he will never win a championship in his career? (like Sir Charles, like Malone)
His accomplishment is still far greater than many players with multiple rings...
yes, steve nash is greater than tony parker, steve kerr, john paxson and derek fisher ^^
but until he gets a ring it is inevitable to not starting calling him "the worst two time mvp ever" ...
Zergege:
And I thought regular season MVPs are scrutinized solely on their performances
in the regular season?
you are correct about this, if history can be fixed, quite a few mvp awards have been given to the wrong player ....
mj should have won the 1997 mvp over mailman
olajuwon should have won the 1995 mvp over david robinson
shaq should have won the 2005 mvp( miami 59-23) and wade should have won the 2006 mvp ( miami 52-30, nba champion)
back to the 2007 mvp talk, i really think dirk should and would get his first mvp this year over steve nash, 3 reasons
#1 dirk's team has a better record, if not one of the best in nba all-time history
#2 nash improved his numbers again this year, but so did dirk
#3 not even magic johnson could get three mvps in a row
CASE CLOSED.
