The former VCU point guard is headed back to the Washington area.
The Washington Wizards have agreed to a two-year contract with point guard Eric Maynor, according to the Washington Post. Maynor spent last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 4.5 points and 2.8 assists per game in 64 appearances.
The deal is reportedly for Washington's bi-annual exception, a deal that will amount to roughly $2 million per year. The Blazers could have made Maynor a restricted free agent last week, but decided against making him the qualifying offer worth $3.4 million. Maynor, who turned 26 years old last month, figures to replace A.J. Price on the Wizards' bench.
Maynor has struggled to find a place in the NBA since being selected No. 20 overall by the Utah Jazz in 2009. The Wizards will be the fourth team of his pro career.
Maynor also has local ties to the Washington area after leading VCU from 2005-09. Maynor exited as the school's all-time leader in points and assists.
