Boomers take opener against Iran

David Barlow opened the scoring on a three-point bomb from the corner before Iranian centre Hamed Had idi finished an old-fashioned 3-pointer to make it an early 3-3 tie.
Barlow lit it up again from long range for a 6-3 lead and when AJ Ogilvy score his first points as a Boomer with two foul shots with 7:16 on the clock the Boomers led 12-6.

Barlow made it four 3-pointers for the quarter with 2:30 remaining and when Anstey and debutante Shawn Redhage added long bombs the Boomers ran into the break ahead by eleven, 33-22.
Redhage added a second 3-pointer two minutes into the second quarter and James Harvey continued the Boomers rain dance with 3:39 remaining in the half but the Iranians hung around and when the half time buzzer sounded the margin had only extended by one point, 47-35.
CJ Bruton hit three 3-pointers in a row in the third quarter and the Boomers looked to blow the game open but Iranian captain Samed Nikka kept the scoreboard ticking over for the visitors.
Pat Mills came off the bench to end those Iranian hopes, scoring four quick points to put Australia up by 18 with 3:15 remaining in the third and when one period remained Australia were up by sixteen, 68-52.
