J.F.J:
I totally agree. Last night was one of the rare times in recent years that I actually made a loud roar when Dirk made the last minute 3 pointer. Being a LBJ fan for 6 years, this is the first time I'd like to see his team gets beaten (at least in yesterday's game). Honestly, I am not sure whether I am really rooting for the Mavs or I simply don't want this season to end so quickly - it's just too much fun and excitement.
That said, Mavs will probably not fare well heading home. Mavs's miraculous comeback yesterday was, of course, attributed to their great offensive power. However, Heat's relaxed defense and silly offensive strategy also allows the Mavs to make a late-game rally. You can easily see the Big 3's cockiness and self-indulgence in the moment dilute their concentration on the court. As a result, LBJ and Wade made a number of unncessary 3s that are simply a waste of possession (esepecially when they were leading), and Mr. Bosh lost the ball, got blocked, and simply forgot they had a foul to give when Nowitski drove to the basket with 3 seconds remaining. This won't happen again. The self-esteem of LBJ and Wade will not allow this to happen again.
The next 3 games will attest the true merits of the Mavs team. Although this is still early to say, Mavs are likely facing one of the best teams in NBA history. With Mike Miller and Haslem recover from their injury next year, Heat will likely dominate the league in years to come. The 2 headed dragon will only become more menacing, and the Heat as a team will only become better as they find their identity - a 5 do-it-all crew where everyone rebounds, shoots, passes, and most importantly, defends. This is not an easy team to defeat, at least not much easier than the O-K Laker or the Jordan Bulls. Mavs need to step up their game every minute, not just the last 6 mins, or otherwise we will be witnessing Nowitski's depressed face again, something I'd rather not see this year.
